Track and Field Bears Picked to Finish Fifth at MVC Indoor Championships

SPRINGFIELD - The Track and Field Bears are picked to finish fifth at this weekend’s Missouri Valley Conference Championships in the pre-championship coaches’ poll, the league announced Tuesday.
 
Defending champion Southern Illinois Salukis are picked to repeat, earning 62 points and seven of the eight first-place votes. Wichita State came in at second, 55 points, and received the other first-place vote. The duo finished one-two at last season’s championships, with the Bears coming in third.
 
Missouri State, gunning for their sixth indoor championship under head coach Ronald Boyce, finished with 35 points, just behind Indiana State, 51 points, and Illinois State, 37.
 
Meet host UNI, Drake and Bradley round out the poll. 
           
The two-day meet begins Saturday, Feb. 27, at the UNI Dome in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Live stats will be available all weekend through the track and field schedule page on MissouriStateBears.com.
