Kansas City, MO (January 8, 2008) --The 35th annual
Hospital Hill Run and Sports Radio 810 have partnered
together to produce The Sports Radio 810 Media Challenge.
This is a team event for all media outlets including radio
stations, television stations, magazines and newspapers,
designed to help build teamwork across departments and
promote fitness within the workplace. Runners and walkers
compete in the already existing Hospital Hill Run events,
while representing their organization.
"We are thrilled to partner with Sports Radio 810 to create
the media challenge," stated Beth Salinger, Race Director of
the Hospital Hill Run, "this is a great way to add some fun
competition within the event."
Sports Radio 810 has partnered with the event to showcase
that running and walking promotes a healthy lifestyle, which
in turn creates healthier employees who rely less on health
insurance and helps control the bottom line. Running and
walking combat obesity and the aging process and reduce
the risk of diseases such as heart disease, stroke, colon
cancer and breast cancer. Plus, it is a great way to boost
company spirit and a fun way for employees to interact
outside the office.
There are two ways for media outlets to participate and win!
A Championship trophy and charitable donations will be
awarded based upon:
1 - Number of participants from a media outlet
A donation will be made to the charity of the media outlet
with the largest number of finishers. Athletes can
participate by running or walking in the 5K, 10K or half
marathon. Finishing times don't matter - only finishing
does! The winning team will receive the "Sports Radio 810
Media Challenge Trophy" to display at their place of
business until next year.
2 - Fastest combined time of 5 Team Members
Team of three to five runners will compete in the half
marathon for the fastest overall time (top 3 will be scored).
Teams will compete in the male only, female only and co-ed
categories (the co-ed team must have at least one female
runner and the top three times must include one female
time). Winning teams will have a donation made in their
honor to the charity of their choice.
"I have been participating in the Hospital Hill Run for many
years," stated Crunch Time Host Frank Boal. "I have been
trying to get some of these other guys to come out and run
with me and I think this media challenge will do it. I am very
excited to lead the 810 team."
2008 will be the 35th running of the Hospital Hill Run. As
the oldest of all Kansas City races, Hospital Hill Run is now
comprised of a Half Marathon (13.1 miles), 10K (6.2miles)
and the UMKC School of Medicine 5K (3.1 miles). The goal
for 2008 is to make the event more achievable for many by
offering online training schedules, leaving the courses open
to walkers and runner alike, the Garmin Pace Team in the
Half Marathon and the best goodie bag in the Midwest.

About The Hospital Hill Run
Hospital Hill Run is the oldest road race in Kansas City.
First held in 1974 with a field of 99 runners, Hospital Hill
Run grew in size and stature in the ensuing years to the
point that it was named one of the top races in the country by
Runner's World magazine. Competitors included such
running legends as Olympic gold medalists Frank Shorter
and Billy Mills and running legends Bill Rodgers and Jim
Ryun, as well as over 100,000 ordinary Kansas and
Missouri citizens running for the challenge, fun and fitness.
The largest Hospital Hill Run field was in 1983 when 4,173
runners took to the streets. In 2007 over 3,500 athletes
came to participate in the 34th annual Hospital Hill Run, a
crowd not seen since 1991. As a long-standing Kansas
City event, the event has kept up with the changing running
community by altering the run's distance, adding premium
items, and offering ChampionChip Timing. However, the
focus has always been on the athlete and their experience!
The 35th running of the Hospital Hill Run Half Marathon,
10K and UMKC School of Medicine 5K will take place on
Saturday June 7, 2008. For more information or to register
