ST. LOUIS - Get ready for the 2012 USA Cross Country Championships taking place February 11 in Forest Park. In addition to watching some of the country’s top runners compete, cross country enthusiasts will have a chance to experience the course by running in either a community race, open to runners of all ages, or a high school race for runners in grades 7-12. Three Top-Two Finishes For Miner Men's Track
The Rolla Daily News - Missouri S&T’s men’s track & field team completed a successful weekend at the Missouri Southern Invitational with three top-two finishes and an NCAA provisional qualifying mark in the two-day meet. Terry Robinson (St. Louis, Mo./McClluer South-Berkeley) won the 600-yard run by posting a time of 1:14.96, winning by nearly two seconds over Will Taylor from Coffeyvolle Community College. In addition, Robinson took second in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.27 seconds.
Hospital Hill Run Gears Up For 39th Consecutive Year With Price Chopper As New Title Sponsor
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - (January 26,2012) - Price Chopper, the largest grocer in Kansas City, has inked a deal to be the title sponsor of the 39th annual Hospital Hill Run. Hospital Hill Run presented by Price Chopper will take place on Saturday June 2, 2012 consists of a half marathon, 10K and the UMKC School of Medicine 5K events, starting and finishing at Crown Center.
STLC Names 2011 All-Metro High School XC Team
By Tom Eckelmann - ST. LOUIS - For the 19th year. the St. Louis Track Club will honor the All-Metro High School Cross Country Teams at the SLTC Annual Awards Banquet on Saturday, February 11. This year the panel of coaches again selected honorees for a first team, a second team as well as honorable mentions. Each honoree will receive a plaque commemorating their selection.
McClellan, Archibald Record Top-Two Finishes At Iowa State Open
AMES, Iowa – Jusean Archibald (Bridgeton, Mo./Trinity) had a pair of top 10 finishes over the weekend to lead the efforts of the Missouri S&T men's track & field squad at the Iowa State Open. Archibald placed second in the long jump Friday with a mark of 22-11 3/4, then added a ninth place finish Saturday in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.50 seconds. Earlier in the day, Archibald had the fifth-best time in the preliminary rounds of the 60-hurdles of 8.31 seconds.
Jayhawk Track and Field Claims Dual Meet Victory Over Missouri
COLUMBIA, Mo. - The University of Kansas track and field team out-dueled archrival Missouri Friday afternoon, 191-167, in head-to-head action. The Jayhawk women topped the Tigers by a score of 106-75, while the men fell to MU 92-85. The two teams' combined scores were enough to earn their second-straight dual meet victory.
2012 U.S. Olympic Trials-Marathon: Meb, Ryan, Abdi, and Dathan
RunBlogRun - (January 14, 2012) - The conditions for the 2012 U.S Olympic Trials-Marathon, were just about perfect: sunny, 35-40 degrees, with a bit of wind on the last loop. From the very start, there were two men's races. A pack of Dathan Ritzenhein, Brian Olinger, Mo Trafeh, Joseph Chirlee, Ryan Hall, Abdi Abdirahman, and Meb Keflezighil meant business from the start. Cruising 4.50-4.51 miles, the lead pack hit the mile in 4:50, two miles in 9:41 and three miles in 14:32. The chasing pack, lead by Brett Gotcher and Andrew Carlsen, were already 30 seconds back at 5k, hit in 15:03.
Nightingale Named Gatorade Missouri Girls Cross Country Runner of the Year
CHICAGO - (January 12, 2012) - In its 27th year of honoring the nation’s best high school athletes, The Gatorade Company, in collaboration with ESPN HS, today announced Samantha Nightingale of Blue Springs South High School as its 2011-12 Gatorade Missouri Girls Cross Country Runner of the Year. Nightingale is the first Gatorade Missouri Girls Cross Country Runner of the Year to be chosen from Blue Springs South High School.
